The Crucible
Capilano U
By Arthur Miller
Directed by Stuart Aikins
February 15 - 18, 2012

In 1692, Salem, Massachusetts was an enclave of rigid piety huddled on the edge of a wilderness. Its inhabitants believed unquestioningly in their own sanctity. But in Arthur Miller’s edgy masterpiece, that very belief has poisonous consequences when a vengeful teenager accuses a rival of witchcraft. Those accusations multiply to consume the entire village. The Crucible brilliantly explores the threshold between individual guilt and mass hysteria, personal spite and collective evil. It is relentlessly suspenseful, vastly moving and compels the audience to search their hearts and consciences in ways that only great theatre can.

Hello Dolly!
Capilano U
Book by Michael Stewart
Music and Lyrics by Jerry Herman
Directed by Gillian Barber
Musical Direction by Kevin Michael Cripps
March 29 – April 7, 2012

“And what do you do for a living, Mrs. Levi?” asks Ambrose Kemperin the first scene of this most delightful of musical comedies.” Some people paint, some sew… I meddle,” replies Dolly. And we are off on a whirlwind race around New York at the turn of the twentieth century, as we follow the adventures of America’s most beloved matchmaker! “Money, pardon the expression,” comments Dolly, “is like manure. It’s not worth a thing unless it’s spread around encouraging young things to grow.” Hello, Dolly! is full of memorable songs including Put On Your Sunday Clothes, Ribbons Down My Back, Before the Parade Passes By, Elegance, and Hello, Dolly!. A fun filled treat for the whole family!
